또 군중들은 대규모 공안의 이동을 저지하기도 했습니다. 현지 매체는 당국이 모스크를 강제 철거하자 현지 무슬림들이 모였다며, 무장 경찰이 폭력적인 수단으로 군중을 해산시켰다고 보도했습니다.

그런데 지난 2004년 이 사원에 4층 높이의 아랍식 돔 형태의 건물이 새로 들어섰습니다. 이와 관련해 홍콩 명보는 최근 중국 정부가 이런 아랍식 모스크를 전통적인 중국 스타일로 복원하도록 요구하고 있다고 보도했습니다.
