Due to the ongoing wildfires in Canada, the air quality in the northeastern United States has reached its worst level. Major cities in the eastern US, including Philadelphia and Washington DC, have been advised to refrain from outdoor activities. This is Kim Soo-jin, special correspondent in Washington. The forest of buildings in Manhattan, New York, was covered in brown smoke. Despite being midday, the city is dark due to the thick smoke. People wearing masks have reappeared on the streets. Due to the ongoing wildfires in Canada, New York's air quality has recorded the worst level in the world, following New Delhi, India. New York City has banned all outdoor activities in public schools and advised citizens to refrain from going out. Not only New York, but also major cities in the east, including Philadelphia and Washington DC, have been advised to refrain from outdoor activities. Hundreds of wildfires are still out of control and spreading in various parts of Canada. As warm and dry weather continues, naturally ignited wildfires are not going out, and already one third of the area of South Korea has been burned. The sky in Washington DC has also turned hazy.
