마트에서 물건을 훔쳐가는 절도가 극성을 부리다 보니 아예 꺼내지도 못 하게 해놓은 겁니다.

이런 건 처음 봅니다.
더 나쁜 점은 이런 범죄가 만연해 일상이됐다는 겁니다.

월그린과 월마트, 타겟, 홈비퍼 등 미국의 대표적인 소매업체들이 지난 몇 년간 실적이 떨어진 이유 가운데 하나로 도둑질을 언급할 정도로 미국에서 소매 절도가 기승을 부리고있습니다.
이들 업체의 재고 손실액은 2021년 945억 달러.
우리 돈 120조 원이 넘는데 이 가운데 37%가 소매 절도 때문으로 나타났습니다.
훔친 생필품을 온라인에서 되파는 범죄도 급증하고 있습니다.
전국적으로 가장 많이 도난당한 물품은값비싼 물건이 아니라 아마존, 이베이 등에서 개인이 손쉽게 중고 거래로 팔 수 있는 빨래 세제였습니다.
절도 수준을 보면 생계형 소매 절도인 경향이 있습니다.
사람들은 배가 고픕니다.
값비싼 물건이 아닌 생필품 절도가 기승을 부리는 거는 어느 때보다 높아진 미국의 물가 영향도있습니다.
세제 하나에도 자물쇠를 걸다 보면 그 비용 때문에 결국 제품 가격도 오를 텐데 안 그래도 물가에 허리가 휘는 저소득층만 더 힘들어 질 거라는 우려도 나옵니다.
