일가족이 이렇게 탈북해 들어온 건 6년 만인데요.
체제에 대한 불만 때문인 것으로 우리 당국은 보고 있습니다.

지난 6일 밤 12시쯤, 연평도 북방한계선(NLL) 근처, 북쪽해상에서 배 한 척이 우리 군 레이더에 관측됐습니다.
연평도 측에서 NLL까지 거리는 불과 3km입니다.
남쪽으로 내려오는 배는 열 영상 관측 장비(TOD)를 통해 육안으로도 확인됐고, 군은 NLL을 넘어서자 즉각 경비정과 고속단비정을 출동시켰습니다.
소형 목재 어선에 타고 있던 사람은 10명 안팎의 북한 주민이었습니다.
어린이들도 있었습니다.
이들은 당시 우리 장병들에게 실수로 표류한 것은 아니다, 귀순을 위해 왔다며 귀순 의사를 명확히 밝힌 것으로 전해졌습니다.
신병을 확보한 군은 국정원 등과 함께 탈북과정과 동기 등을 조사하고 있습니다.
가족 단위로 어선을 타고 탈북한 사례가 알려진 것은 지난 2017년 7월 일가족 포함 5명의 귀순 이후 6년 만입니다.
전문가들은 이들이 경제적 어려움보다는 북한 체제에 대한 불만 때문에 탈북했을 가능성에 무게를 두고 있습니다.
이번 탈북 주민들은 코로나19 유행으로 국경 경계가 삼엄해진 시점에서 사전에 치밀한 계획을 세운 것으로 추정됩니다.
군 관계자는 탈북 당시 연평도 일대에는 야간에 비가 내리고 있었고, 꽃게철을 맞아 NLL 주변에 중국 어선도 많이 떠 있어 북한군의 추적이 쉽지 않았을 것이라고 전했습니다.
군은 북한이 송환 요구 등 아직까지는 별다른 반응을 보이지 않고 있다고 밝혔습니다.

At the beginning of this month, a family from North Korea defected by crossing the Northern Limit Line (NLL) in the West Sea. It's been six years since a family has defected in this way. Our authorities are reporting that it was due to dissatisfaction with the regime. This is reporter Jeong Dong-hoon. Around midnight on the 6th, a boat was observed on our military radar near the Northern Limit Line (NLL) off Yeonpyeong Island, in the northern sea. The distance from Yeonpyeong Island to the NLL is only 3km. The boat coming down south was visually confirmed through Thermal Observation Device (TOD), and the military immediately dispatched patrol boats and high-speed boats as it crossed the NLL. The people on the small wooden fishing boat were about 10 North Korean residents, including children. They clearly expressed their intention to defect to our soldiers at the time, saying that they did not drift by mistake, but came to defect. The military, having secured the defectors, is investigating the process and motives of their defection with the National Intelligence Service. The last known case of a family defecting by boat was in July 2017, when a family of five defected, making it six years since. Experts are putting more weight on the possibility that they defected due to dissatisfaction with the North Korean regime rather than economic difficulties. It is presumed that these defectors meticulously planned in advance, at a time when border controls have been tightened due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A military official said that at the time of the defection, it was raining at night in the Yeonpyeong Island area, and there were many Chinese fishing boats around the NLL due to the crab season, making it difficult for the North Korean military to track them.
