정부는 일본 전범 기업이 빠진 강제 동원 배상에 대해 미래지향적인 결단이라며 일본의 호응을 기대한다고 했습니다.
하지만 정부 발표 사흘 만에 일본 외무상이 '강제 동원' 표현이 적절치 않다고 한 데 이어 이번에는 초등학교 교과서에서도 '강제'라는 단어가 삭제될 것으로 보입니다.
초등학교 3, 4, 5, 6학년용 사회교과서로 조선인과 중국인을 강제로 끌고 왔다는 표현을 '참여했다' 또는 '합류했다'로 바꿀 가능성이 높은 것으로 전해졌습니다.
심지어 '자발적으로 지원했다'고 쓴 교과서도 있는 것으로 알려졌습니다.
'강제로 끌고 간 게 아니라 모집이었다'고 주장해 일본 정부가 책임을 벗어나려는 의도로 해석됩니다.
독도에 대한 왜곡은 더 확대됩니다.
일본의 '고유 영토'라는 주장이 모든 교과서에 실리고 독도를 '다케시마'로 표기한 지도가 초등학교 3학년 교과서부터 담길 것으로 전해졌습니다.
일본 문부과학성은 출판사 세 곳이 쓴 초등학교 교과서에 대한 검정 결과를 발표할 예정입니다.
정부 고위 당국자는 중대한 변화가 있다면 당연히 문제 제기를 할 것이라며 전례에 비춰 대응할 것이라고 전했습니다.
교과서 발표에 맞춰 주한일본대사를 초치, 즉 불러 항의할 것으로 보입니다.
다만 일본이 지난 10년간 반복하고 있는 입장이라며 일희일비할 사안은 아니라고 했습니다.
